The INFINITY COVER Wins Interzum Award for High Product Quality

BekaertDeslee is celebrating a major achievement this year as its innovative INFINITY COVER receives the Interzum Award 2025 for High Product Quality. This prestigious recognition highlights the company's commitment to creating high-performance, sustainable solutions for the sleep industry.

Each year, up to 30 million mattresses are discarded across Europe—many of which end up in landfills or are incinerated. Despite this, up to 85% of a mattress’s materials can be recycled if properly disassembled. BekaertDeslee’s INFINITY COVER aims to close this gap by offering a fully recyclable, mono-material solution made from 100% polyester, including 91% recycled content. The recycled materials are sourced from PET bottles (53%), BekaertDeslee’s own post-production waste (30%), and chemically recycled textile fibers (8%).

“This recognition affirms our belief that quality and sustainability must go hand in hand,” said Ruben Puype, Sustainability Director at BekaertDeslee. “The INFINITY COVER is a tangible step toward a circular future for mattress design, combining high-end performance with environmental responsibility.”

But it's not just about the materials. The INFINITY COVER is packed with features designed for full lifecycle transparency and functionality. A Digital Product Passport (DPP) and RFID tag allow for easy identification of materials at the end-of-use phase, ensuring the cover can be properly sorted and recycled. Additionally, the cover integrates an anti-slip polyester layer to improve mattress stability—eliminating the need for non-recyclable components while preserving a single-material design.

All of these elements contribute to a reduction of up to 26% in CO₂ equivalent emissions compared to covers made from virgin polyester. Designed with disassembly in mind, the INFINITY COVER supports a circular economy model, where mattress textiles are reused instead of discarded.

The Interzum Award, organized by Koelnmesse in collaboration with Red Dot, recognizes outstanding design and innovation in materials and components for furniture and interior design. BekaertDeslee’s win in the category of High Product Quality confirms its leadership in sustainable textile development and its forward-thinking approach to responsible sleep solutions.

Stay tuned as BekaertDeslee continues to redefine what the future of mattresses can—and should—look like.
