HR Manager, HR
Location: Belgium, Waregem

For our European business unit we are currently looking for an HR Manager EMENA. The European business unit employs more than 1500 employees and is with an annual revenue of € 150 million a key region for the BekaertDeslee group.


  • Serve as HR business partner to the leadership team of BD Europe.
  • Coordinate all HR activities for the BD Europe region, working closely with the HR teams in Belgium, Turkey and Romania and with the local management of Spain, Estonia, Czech Republic and Poland.
  • Staffing: analyze staffing needs, coach management, propose internal and external staffing solutions, lead the hiring process and assure quality and retention of new hires.
  • Set up and coordinate training and development initiatives supporting the business needs, incl. induction of new employees.
  • Coach management on all employee related matters, develop and implement organizational development initiatives.
  • Work together with the different stakeholders to set out a performing architecture for the BD Europe organization and change projects.
  • Coordinate strategic projects projects in your region, such as people turnover and employee engagement.
  • Assure compliance with local legislation and with global HR policies.
  • Analyze and monitor personnel budgets, compensation plans and important HR metrics
  • Coordinate internal communications.
  • Be an active member of the BD Europe leadership team.
  • Ensure that the organization complies with local employment laws and legislations and ensure legal compliance in HR topics. Intervene and escalate when needed.
  • Act as BD Europe champion for BD group HR processes, be a member of the Global HR Team and participate in global HR projects.
  • Report hierarchically to the Executive VP and General Manager of BekaertDeslee EMENA, functionally to the Executive VP and Chief HR Officer


  • Master degree or equivalent by experience
  • HR generalist
  • Min. 10 years of relevant experience in HRM, preferably in a multi-plant or multi-national context, of which several years on a managerial/leadership level
  • Experience with HR metrics and data to provide decision support.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with web based applications, experience with Success Factors or another HRIS is an asset
  • Fluent in English. Other languages are an asset (e.g. Spanish)
  • Proven leadership skills, ability to demonstrate a clear vision, global mindset and successful in people and team development
  • Hands-on approach
  • Shows business acumen (with interest in manufacturing, ability to think along with management)
  • Has excellent communication skills (interpersonal savvy)
  • Customer focused, highly approachable, analytical mindset, excellent problem solving skills
  • Change- & learning oriented, ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Willing to travel
