Centexbel, the Belgian Textile Research Centre, has inaugurated its new building in Grâce-Hollogne on March 24th, 2016. During the official ceremony, BekaertDeslee's Chief Commercial Officer and also President of Centexbel, Mr. Hans Dewaele, General Director of Centexbel, Mr. Jan Laperre, and Minister of Economy in Wallonia, Mr. Jean-Claude Marcourt, gave a short but powerful presentation to officially open the new establishment in Grâce-Hollogne.
The 30 employees, mainly researchers, moved from Verviers to Grâce-Hollogne due to a lack of space in the former building. The location in Grâce-Hollogne is easily accessible and, moreover, the presence of Centexbel in Wallonia is very important, explains Jan Laperre, General Director of Centexbel. Next to Grâce-Hollogne, Centexbel is also located in Ghent and Kortrijk.
Centexbel is founded in 1949 and was initially specialized in traditional textiles. Today, the knowledge of Centexbel has reached domains such as medical textiles (hospitals & the pharmaceutical industry), composite materials (development of textile structures based on high performance fibers for durable however lightweight materials used in the transport sector), nano materials and intelligent textiles.
Every year, more than 1500 organizations (70% Belgian, 30% foreign) call on the expertise of Centexbel with the purpose to develop innovative products.
Centexbel focuses its activities around four axes:
- Certification of products and processes
- Applied research and development
- Services (consultancy, trainings, audits, etc.).
