Continuous Improvement Manager

Main job objective - Mission:   The Continuous improvement (CI) is an essential part of BD’s strategy. The Continuous Improvement Manager implements Lean Principles throughout the end to end process working in close collaboration with the local management team, operational line management and the corporate CI leadership. The Continuous Improvement Manager implements, coordinates and controls the continuous improvement activities within BDUS.



Main responsibilities and key activities: 1. Lead and drive Lean Principles implementation across the end to end process to optimize the Value Stream in alignment with the overarching Lean Transformation Roadmap. 2. Lead the implementation of Lean Tools and Philosophies, with an immediate term goal on Value Stream Mapping, 5’s, Visual Management, and Go & See. 3. Organize and facilitate Lean Events, educate and train in lean principles and tools, problem solving and prevention. 4. Organize and coordinate engagement activities with stakeholders, process owners, employees, suppliers and customers in regards to Lean Principles and Lean tools implementation. 5. Define, implement and maintain communications on the overall Lean Roadmap progress and achievements. 6. Implement and manage CI in line with the BekaertDeslee’ overall CI strategy and chosen methodologies. 7. Hands on design, planning and leadership of CI projects with focus on improving safety, service, quality and productivity. 8. Using the BekaertDeslee’ chosen methodologies, identify, recommend for approval and implement projects and actions to eliminate waste or losses (in its widest sense) in manufacturing. 9. Directs and coaches CI Practitioners in the proper execution of their CI duties 10. Build Lean Six Sigma management capability to support deployment and ensure sustainable improvements through coaching, training and facilitating interventions. 11. Change mind set and behaviours at all levels of the organization through influencing key stakeholders and engaging operators on the shop floor.

12. Serve as a full partner to the business in evaluating and challenging the status quo to identify value opportunities. 13. Provide Lean Six Sigma expertise to the organization and support the ongoing development of values and principles required to achieve cultural change and transformation. 14. Be the face to the customer in everything related to (manufacturing) process improvement. 15. Assist the Director of CI to develop CI Playbooks, training materials and support systems.

Professional qualifications and knowledge: • University degree; Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Business preferred • Minimum 5 to 10 years of Hands on experience in implementing Value Stream Mapping, 5’s, Visual Management, Go & See practices, and Business Process. • Minimum 5 to 10 years Leadership experience in process improvement in an industrial environment with focus on Lean implementationn • Experience in the application of Change Management models. • Experience supervising and managing others is required • Experience leading Kaizen Events • Hands on leader of at least 20 Lean Six Sigma projects • LSS Black belt or above preferred • Proven track record of operational effectiveness • Affinity with working in an international context • Textile experience desired
